Description

Silk Roving Shawl
There is something mysterious about a woman wearing a silk square around her neck, the way her whole look is just tied together perfectly with one simple accessory.  Using silk roving yarn you too can have a beautiful silk accessory to compliment your wardrobe. To keep it light, let’s make it airy and a triangle instead of a square, who needs all that bulk on a warm day? This is about fashion not protecting one’s self from the cold after all.

So go ahead, indulge, time to use that Yarn of the Month from Darn Good Yarn or your another colorway from your stash like I did to make something memorable.  The precise size of your finished shawl will depend upon the gauge and the number of cakes you have available.

That feeling should permeate your soul regardless of the weather, take it up a notch as the temperatures go up by knitting a few stitches in silk around the fire pit!

Alternative Yarn Ideas:
DGY Silk Roving is approximately a worsted weight single ply yarn hand dyed with short runs of color throughout the color way.  It has recycled fibers in it so there are some spots where it is a little thinner and a little thicker. For a good substitute choose a similar roving product or a loosely plied yarn.

Juniper Moon Marlowe is a good option, similar weight and in a range of lovely colors, the colors throughout Marlowe are more subtle than those of DGY Silk Roving and shorter like those of DGY Silk Roving.  https://knittingfever.com/juniper-moon-farm/yarn/K-MARL
