Description

A trio of fun accessories to show off the incredibly beautiful sock yarn in your stash that is just too beautiful to stuff in a shoe.  A hat with a cap option, and two shawls complete this crochet pattern collection.  While I happened to have used Darn Good Yarn Alanya Sock sets to maintain my perfect striping throughout each project you can use any self-striping yarn with similar qualities like Whirl by Scheepjes or the painted sock collection from Knitting Fever International. These are accessories, take a step outside your color comfort zone and chain on my friends, chain on!

246 Gr8 Shawl:
Sock yarn too pretty to put in a shoe? I agree, Alanya is far too pretty to put in a shoe. The colors just sing as they flow off the cake over the hook and into your own piece of wearable art. In these hectic times we could all use a little break so give yourself a nice break with this easy to memorize row repeat as you mindlessly watch the colors flow from cake to shawl.

Sock it To Me Shawl:
We’ve all done it, bought that random set of matched sock yarn cakes or random skein of fingering weight self striping yarn then gotten it home and realized it’s just far too pretty to live its life as a pair of socks stuffed in a shoe. So it sits, a long time, mocking you from its spot on the shelf or in your project bag, until today.  Yes, that’s right, today’s the day. Get out that 100g/400+ or – yards and get to work on a small, rewarding project, a short bandana to brighten up even the darkest of outfits.

Materials:       Sock yarn or fingering weight yarn left overs, 100g total, 4 colors used in sample
Hook:              US Size E
Gauge:             20 sts x 12 rows =  4″/10cm square in double crochet
Dimensions:    48” wingspan x 21” depth

Alternative Yarns to Consider: Since this is a garment it need not be sock yarn per se, it could just as easily be two lace weights held together, a fingering weight yarn or even a DK weight. The gauge will be a little different and the hook to be used will change, and since it’s an accessory, it really does not matter precisely what the gauge is for the finished project making this the perfect stash buster!
